Fishing Report
Abel McAlister from Milan, MO with his 2 pounder
Hows Fishing? Well yes its been a while since I did a report but I am back this week. Fishing has been absolutely phenomenal this past couple of weeks. School has started, so during the week we are not seeing as many families and its a little less crowded. But yes the fishing has been great. They are definitely stock more quantities and we are seeing more fish to be weighed. Several nice 1.6-to-3-pound Rainbows have been brought up. Now are lunker board is not as full as it has been in the past but we definitely have seen more lunkers this past couple weeks. The water right now is flowing slow and low and is very clear.
In zone 1 dry flies have been great throwing Renegades, Elk Hair Caddis, and Parachute Adams. Beetles and and other foam patterns have also worked well throwing under the trees.
Drifting cream mops, orange mops, John Deere Mini Jigs, White thread Jigs, Jimi Hendrix glo balls, peach glo balls and fur bugs have been working well. As far as depth-I have been fishing between 3-4 feet with adjustments made. I always change depth before I change my jig.
My mother Connie from Lee's Summit caught her first trout on a fly rod
Stripping flies has been great also. Crackleback in blue and olive have been pretty awesome. Woolys in dark colors like brown and black have worked well. Also the Renegade has worked great on top and also as a wet fly.
Rooster Tails in white, glitter black, and bright color have worked well and if you like throwing jigs like marabou- Black and yellow, black, ginger snap or ginger have been very popular.
In zone 3 we have seen several really nice trout brought up to weigh and several have made the lunker board. Worms, power worms, salmon eggs and shrimp have done very well. Power bait in Salmon Peach, Orange, sherbet or rainbow have probably been the most popular
hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend. Good luck, stay safe and well see you on the stream.
