Fishing Report
Randy, Cheryl, Hillary and Cory
Hows fishing? We’ve had a good week of fishing. Last week was Veterans free fishing which turned out really well. I got to meet several Veterans on the stream fishing and enjoying the day. The water has receded back down to near normal stage and is slightly stained. We do have a significant chance of rain in the forcast for this evening and tomorrow but we’ll see what happens. I went down this morning and seen several anglers catching fish. So, whats been working? Well, this week “pink” has been the color all over the stream. Pink Rooster Tails, Pink glo balls, pink marabou, pink jigs and pink mop flies. Another color working really well has been orange. If you run a sinking fly line and like to strip, then I would still go will olive cracklebacks or blue cracklebacks as they have been popular for anglers this week.

So, I most generally always talk about flies but this week I am going to switch it up to zone 3 fishing. Zone 3 can be amazing some days when the flys are working as well. I typically like to throw Salmon Peach Power Bait or red salmon eggs. Now salmon peach isn’t always the key but it typically works well on a 18 or 16 treble hook with a split shot. Now my in-laws Randy and Cheryl get it done when they are in zone 3 with PowerBait. I'v seen them have to 60-80 fish days. A couple of baits that work well in zone 3 are shrimp, worms and minnows. Depending on the day they can each be awesome and bring in tons of fish.
Jason Dane
This week I would like to shine the spotlight on one of our local fly tiers, Jason Dane. Jason has been tying flies for Weavers for the past 10 years. He is known for making his awesome cream mop flies that have catch some awesome fish at Bennett Spring. Jason also makes the Deluxe coated stringers for Weavers. Jason does an awesome job and we are proud to have him as a local tyer.
