Fishing Report

How’s Fishing- The fishing this week has been tough at the first part of the week but it hasn’t been a complete wash. I fished Monday again with a sinking line and a crackleback and didn’t do well but I switched out lines to a floating and drifted a John Deere and started catching fish. Now the fish were deeper than normal and the flow was a bit fast but I still was able to catch fish. With that being said the water has receded and all the anglers that have been up to the store  yesterday and today have had nothing but good reports of fishing. We have kids free fishing tomorrow so make sure you bring your kiddos down some fun.

What’s working? I would definitely try the John Deere mini jigs as it has been a beast these past couple weeks. Now it could change but the bite has been deep. Remember this can be thrown with a spinning rod also. So don’t be afraid to put one on with a weighted bobber to get you out there a bit farther. I would also try orange glo balls and fur bugs as they have also been good. Rooster Tails in white with a white blade and white with a white blade has also done caught nice fish this week. PowerBait in orange and glitter was the dough bait of choice this week for a lot of anglers. Now the old saying is when we have higher water then fish “dark and deep” but I’m kinda on the fence for this. I definitely think deep is the way to go when the water is a little higher but i’m definitely not convinced on the dark colors. I personally have had better luck with brighter colors such as orange or white. So definitely fishing deep but I think trying brighter colors is also a good choice. I hope everyone has a great weekend. I looks like a chance of rain for the weekend but I think we’ll be ok for kids free fish tomorrow. Good luck, be safe and we’ll see you on the stream!
